Although diets with restricted nutrients can be a powerful tool to help manage chronic medical conditions, they are not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and non-nutritional management of chronic diseases. Your veterinarian can help you decide if nutritional management will help in your dog’s case and may offer a commercial veterinary diet. A common problem with prescription diets is that dogs don't eat well because of the taste. Your dog can't benefit from food he doesn't eat. We can help.
All of our homemade medical formulas meet the same ingredient restrictions recommended by veterinary specialists for managing these various conditions while providing a tastier and healthier diet. They exceed the nutritional standards the NRC recommendations for daily minimum requirements for restricted ingredient diets.
Your veterinarian should provide the same monitoring and treatment modifications they would if your dog were eating the commercial veterinary diets. Your vet can also help you determine your dog’s ideal weight so we can tailor the feeding instructions for our homemade diets.
Please note: These formulations are designed for single disease conditions only. If your dog suffers from multiple conditions, as sometimes happens in complicated medical cases, these formulations may not be suitable and will require a consultation to determine next steps.
